Work-Based Learning: How to Recruit and Train Your Industry Partners WK-201
This workshop begins by establishing a rationale for designing and including work-based learning experiences as an integral part of a Tech Prep program. An analysis of the elements necessary for introduction to industry partners (standards, curriculum integration, and School-to-Work concepts) will be provided along with an overview of the context in which School-to-Work programs will be developed. Participants will prepare a preclass survey to identify targeted industries for involvement and discuss strategies for approaching industry effectively. Participants will leave the session with an action plan to take back to their local schools, Tech Prep consortia, or School-to-Work boards. The emphasis of the plan will be on creating work-based components that fulfill specific curriculum needs. [AD BR TP]
